8 oz (about 225g) spaghetti or your favorite pasta

4 cloves of garlic, minced

4 tbsp unsalted butter

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tbsp dried parsley)

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

Salt and black pepper to taste

Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for freshness)

Extra grated Parmesan for serving

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente (usually around 8-10 minutes). Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

    Prepare the Sauce: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

      Mix Everything Together: Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter. Toss to combine, then add reserved pasta water little by little until you reach your desired consistency (you may not need all of it).

        Add Flavor: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until everything is well coated, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

          Finishing Touches: If desired, add lemon zest for a burst of freshness, and give everything a final toss.
