Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably plain)

1 large egg

1 cup milk

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1 cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz can)

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, and corn)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Shape the Patties: Form the beef mixture into rectangular patties that are about ½ inch thick. You should get approximately 6 patties.

Brown the Patties: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a small amount of oil, and when hot, add the patties. Brown the patties on both sides for about 3-4 minutes until they have a nice sear. They do not need to be cooked through; they will finish in the oven. Transfer the browned patties to a greased baking dish.

Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the cream of mushroom soup and 1 cup of mixed vegetables. Stir and cook for about 3 minutes until warmed through. Pour this mixture evenly over the patties in the baking dish.

Bake the Dish: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes.

Add Cheese: After 30 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven (uncovered) and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the baking dish from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley (if using). Serve warm, with mashed potatoes or your favorite side.
