Ingredients

1 French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces

1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

1 cup creamy goat cheese or ricotta cheese

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Olive oil, for drizzling

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet.

Toast the Crostini: Lightly drizzle the sliced baguette with olive oil on both sides. Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Prepare the Balsamic Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and honey. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and let it cook until it thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Mix the Strawberries: In a bowl, gently toss the sliced strawberries with chopped basil, a pinch of salt, and pepper. This will enhance the sweetness of the strawberries and the freshness of the basil.

Assemble the Crostini: Spread a generous layer of goat cheese or ricotta on each toasted baguette slice. Top with a spoonful of the strawberry and basil mixture.

Drizzle with Glaze: Finally, drizzle the balsamic reduction over the crostini for a beautiful finish.

Serve: Arrange the crostini on a platter, and enjoy your delicious balsamic strawberry basil crostini as an appetizer or snack!
