Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup buttermilk

Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk (optional, for consistency)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract until fully combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

                  For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.

Mix in the vanilla extract, then gradually add in the powdered sugar, beating until the frosting is fluffy and combined. If needed, add a tablespoon of milk for a smoother texture.

Once the cake has cooled completely, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.
