2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt. Set aside.

      In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until fluffy and light in color.

        Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

          Gradually mix in the flour mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

            Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

              Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

                Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers are still soft.

                  Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
