Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp salt

3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs (1 for dough, 1 for egg wash)

1 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh chives (optional)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and 1 egg until combined.

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until the dough begins to come together.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing the crumbled sausage, cheddar cheese, chives, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

Spread the sausage and cheese filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other to form a log. Pinch the edges to seal.

Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.

Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Beat the remaining egg and brush it over each roll for a nice golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.

Once baked, let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
