Ingredients

Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

½ cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F)

¼ cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

Filling:

½ cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1-2 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)

A pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until combined.

Knead the Dough: Add the remaining flour, one cup at a time, mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.

Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.

Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle about 12x18 inches and ¼ inch thick.

Add the Filling: Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough rectangle, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mix liberally over the butter.

Shape the Rolls: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough away from you into a tight log. Pinch the seam to seal it and cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving some space between each. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until they puff up.

Preheat Oven: During the last few minutes of the second rise, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Rolls: Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are lightly golden on top.

Prepare the Maple Glaze: While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and a pinch of salt in a medium bowl until smooth.

Finish and Serve: Drizzle the maple glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls right after taking them out of the oven. Let them sit for a few minutes to allow the glaze to soak in, then serve warm for the best gooey experience!
