Ingredients

1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped

1 lb ground beef (85% lean)

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

Olive oil, for sautéing

1/2 cup beef broth (optional, for moisture)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare Cabbage: In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the chopped cabbage and blanch for 3-4 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

Cook Beef: In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Brown the Meat: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

Mix Ingredients: In the skillet, combine the cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, diced tomatoes (including their juice), oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 5 minutes. If the mixture seems too dry, add beef broth to achieve the desired moisture.

Layer in Baking Dish: In a large baking dish, layer half of the blanched cabbage on the bottom. Spoon half of the beef mixture over the cabbage, then sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage, beef mixture, and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
