Ingredients

2 cups canned apple pie filling

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup caramel sauce

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine the canned apple pie filling and ground cinnamon. Spread this mixture evenly at the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the apple mixture. Do not stir; just let it form a layer.

Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer. Ensure that as much of the mix as possible is covered; any dry spots may not bake properly.

Pour the caramel sauce over the top of the butter and cake mix, using a spoon to help distribute it more evenly. (If using, sprinkle chopped pecans over the caramel sauce for added crunch.)

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Allow the dump cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving. This will help the flavors meld together.

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired, and drizzle with any extra caramel sauce.
