Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

1 cup chocolate chips

1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar

¼ cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Chocolate shavings and fresh berries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. It’s okay if the batter is a little lumpy.

Add Boiling Water: Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that's what makes the cake moist.

Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake: Once baked, remove the pans from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, remove the cakes from the pans and let them cool completely on wire racks.

Make the Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy.

Assemble the Cake: Place one layer of the cooled cake on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

Garnish: If desired, decorate the cake with chocolate shavings and fresh berries for a beautiful presentation.

Serve and Impress: Slice and serve your Catch A Husband Cake at a gathering or a romantic dinner. Enjoy the compliments that follow!
