Ingredients

1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)

2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil (plus more for greasing)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Flaky sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Make Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball.

First Rise: Lightly grease a bowl with olive oil, place the dough inside, and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Prepare Garlic Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, and parsley. Set aside.

Shape the Breadsticks: Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long stick about 7-8 inches long.

Second Rise: Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush them with half of the garlic butter mixture. Cover with a cloth and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake Breadsticks: Once the breadsticks have risen, brush them again with the remaining garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and cheese is bubbly.

Garnish: Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Serve: Enjoy your cheesy garlic breadsticks warm, maybe with a side of marinara sauce for dipping!
