Ingredients

1 large loaf of crusty bread (like Italian or French bread)

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Bread: Place the loaf of bread on a large cutting board. Using a serrated knife, make diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart across the top of the bread, then repeat in the opposite direction to create a diamond pattern. Be careful not to cut all the way through the bottom.

Make the Garlic Butter Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, parsley, red pepper flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well to combine.

Add Cheese: Gently pull apart the sections of the bread and carefully drizzle or brush the garlic butter mixture between the cuts and into the openings. Make sure to reserve about a tablespoon of the garlic butter for topping.

Stuff with Cheese: Between the cuts, stuff in small handfuls of both mozzarella and cheddar cheese, making sure to get it into every crevice.

Wrap and Bake: Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil, making sure it is tightly sealed. Place it on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. This will allow the cheese to melt and the bread to warm up.

Unwrap and Toast: After 20 minutes, carefully unwrap the foil and brush the top of the bread with the reserved garlic butter. Return the bread to the oven (uncovered) and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Sprinkle with fresh parsley for garnish, and serve warm. Pull apart pieces with your hands and enjoy the gooey, cheesy goodness!
