Ingredients

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup salsa (your choice of mild, medium, or spicy)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cumin

Salt and pepper to taste

10 small flour or corn tortillas

Cooking oil (for frying or brushing)

Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish (optional)

Sour cream or guacamole for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven (if baking): If you prefer to bake the taquitos, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, salsa, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are blended seamlessly.

Fill Tortillas: Place a few tablespoons of the chicken mixture in the center of each tortilla. Roll tightly to prevent the filling from spilling out. Secure with a toothpick if necessary.

        Cooking Options:

          - Frying: In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of cooking oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the taquitos in the oil, seam side down. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

            - Baking: Brush the rolled taquitos lightly with cooking oil and place them seam side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden brown.

Serve: Once cooked, remove from heat and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve warm with fresh cilantro or green onions on top, accompanied by sour cream, guacamole, or your favorite dipping sauce.
