Ingredients

1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 lb fresh clams, scrubbed and rinsed

4 slices bacon, diced

1 large onion, chopped

2 stalks celery, diced

2 large carrots, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

4 cups seafood broth

2 cups heavy cream

2 large potatoes, peeled and diced

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

Cook the Bacon: In a large pot over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon pieces and set them aside, leaving the rendered fat in the pot.

Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion, celery, and carrots to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Add Potatoes and Broth: Add the diced potatoes, seafood broth, thyme, paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 minutes.

Incorporate Clams and Cream: Add the clams to the pot and cover it. Cook until the clams open, about 5 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and return to a gentle simmer.

Add Shrimp: Gently fold in the shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes until they are pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook.

Finish the Chowder: Stir in the lemon juice and add the reserved bacon back into the chowder. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if necessary.

Serve: Ladle the chowder into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley. Enjoy your deliciously creamy seafood chowder!
