Ingredients

1 lb (450g) gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 (14.5 oz) can crushed tomatoes

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus extra for serving)

Optional: Cherry tomatoes, halved, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions, usually about 2-3 minutes or until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, making sure not to burn it.

Add Tomatoes and Cream: Pour in the crushed tomatoes, stirring to combine. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes, then reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let it simmer for another 3-4 minutes until creamy.

Combine Gnocchi: Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet, tossing gently to coat them in the creamy tomato sauce. Fold in the chopped fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serve: Remove from heat. Serve immediately in bowls, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, and optional halved cherry tomatoes for a pop of color and freshness.
