Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is ready, pour it into the flour along with the olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Garlic Topping: While the dough is rising, mix the minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small bowl. Set aside.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a baking stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

Shape the Flatbreads: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rectangle or oval shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

Add the Topping: Transfer the flatbreads to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or onto a hot baking stone. Brush them lightly with olive oil, then evenly sprinkle the garlic and cheese mixture over each flatbread.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the flatbreads are golden brown and crispy.

Finishing Touch: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before slicing.

Serve: Cut into strips or wedges and serve warm as an appetizer or side dish.
