Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional for glaze)

Fresh fruits (like berries or peaches, optional for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Filling: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice together until smooth and creamy.

Roll Out Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets and roll them out gently to smooth any creases. Cut each sheet into rectangles, approximately 3x5 inches.

Add Filling: Place a heaping spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry rectangle, leaving about an inch of space at the edges.

Form the Danish: Fold the corners of the pastry sheets over the filling to form a diamond shape. Press gently to seal, and brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake: Arrange the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Prepare Glaze (Optional): If adding a glaze, mix powdered sugar with a tablespoon of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled pastries after they’ve come out of the oven.

Serve: Let the Danish cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh fruits if desired, and enjoy your delicious breakfast treats!
