Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup ketchup

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp yellow mustard

1 tbsp brown sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

Pickles, for garnish (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or turkey). Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until the onions become transparent, about 3-4 minutes.

Mix the Sauce: In a bowl, combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Stir until well mixed.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the cooked meat. Stir well to coat the meat evenly. Allow it to simmer on low heat for about 5-10 minutes, letting the flavors meld together.

Add Cheddar: Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid until the cheese is melted and gooey, about 2-3 minutes.

Toast the Buns: While the cheese melts, slice the hamburger buns in half and lightly toast them on a separate skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon the cheesy meat mixture generously onto the toasted buns. Top with pickles and sprinkle fresh parsley on if desired.

Serve: Serve these delicious cheeseburger sloppy joes hot, with your favorite side dishes like fries or a salad!
