Ingredients

1 pound large sea scallops, patted dry

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Scallops: Start by ensuring the scallops are completely dry by patting them with paper towels. This helps them sear properly.

Heat the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Allow it to foam slightly.

Sear the Scallops: Once the butter is hot, add the scallops in a single layer without crowding the pan. Sear for about 2-3 minutes without moving them, until a golden crust forms.

Flip and Add Garlic: Carefully flip the scallops using tongs. Add the minced garlic to the pan and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until the scallops are opaque and the garlic is fragrant.

Finish with Lemon: Drizzle lemon juice over the scallops and add the chopped parsley. Stir gently to combine.

Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and plate the scallops. Garnish with additional parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
