Ingredients

10 chicken drumsticks

1/2 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

2 tablespoons chopped green onions (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, black pepper, salt, and chili flakes (if using) until well combined. This will be your marinade for the chicken.

Marinate the Chicken: Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl, ensuring they are all well coated in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer to a large zip-lock bag. Let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy clean-up. If you have a wire rack, place it on top of the baking sheet to allow the heat to circulate around the chicken.

Arrange Chicken Drumsticks: Remove the marinated chicken from the fridge and lay them out on the prepared baking sheet or wire rack, allowing space between each drumstick. Reserve the remaining marinade for later.

Bake the Chicken: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes. Then, baste the chicken with the reserved marinade and return to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Broil for Final Touch: For an extra crispy finish, switch the oven to broil and broil for 2-3 minutes until the chicken is beautifully caramelized. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning!

Garnish and Serve: Remove the chicken from the oven, let it rest for a few minutes, then sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with your favorite sides, such as steamed rice or a fresh salad.
