2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

3/4 cup warm water (110°F or 45°C)

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 egg (for egg wash)

Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

    Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Once the yeast is activated, add it along with olive oil to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

      Knead Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface, transfer the dough, and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

        First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

          Prepare Cheese Filling: In a separate bowl, combine mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper.

            Shape Breadsticks: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick).

              Add Cheese: Cut the dough into strips (about 1 inch wide) and sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over half of each strip. Fold the unfilled side over the cheese and pinch to seal the edges.

                Egg Wash: Place the filled breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Beat the egg and brush it over each breadstick for a golden finish.

                  Final Rise: Allow the breadsticks to rest for 15-20 minutes on the baking sheet before baking.

                    Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden and puffed up.

                      Garnish & Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
