Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups sugar

1 cup unsalted butter (softened)

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ tsp salt

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1 cup diced fresh apples (peeled and cored)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In another large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Add Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Ensure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next one.

Incorporate Vanilla and Milk: Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the milk gradually while mixing on low speed until just combined.

Combine Mixtures: Slowly add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until there are no dry flour streaks left. Do not over mix.

Fold in Apples and Walnuts: Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts (if using) into the batter.

Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool Down: Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve: Slice and serve your delicious Homemade Granny Cake with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
