Ingredients

4 fillets of sea bass (approximately 6 ounces each)

3 tablespoons of white miso paste

2 tablespoons of mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)

1 tablespoon of soy sauce

1 tablespoon of sesame oil

2 teaspoons of rice vinegar

1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 tablespoon of chopped green onions (for garnish)

Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Miso Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the white miso paste, mirin, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey/maple syrup, grated ginger, and minced garlic until smooth and well combined.

Marinate the Sea Bass: Place the sea bass fillets in a shallow dish and season lightly with salt and pepper. Pour the miso marinade over the fillets, making sure they are fully coated. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor.

Preheat Cooking Surface: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if you prefer baking the fish. Alternatively, heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

        Cook the Sea Bass:

          - Oven Method: Place the marinated fillets on a lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and has a beautifully golden glaze.

            - Skillet Method: Lightly oil the skillet with a little sesame oil. Sear the fish skin-side down for about 4-5 minutes until crispy, then gently flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes, reducing the heat if necessary to prevent burning.

Serving: Once the sea bass is cooked, transfer it to a serving platter. Drizzle any excess marinade from the pan over the fish. Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds for a delightful crunch and presentation.

Enjoy: Serve the Miso Glazed Sea Bass with steamed jasmine rice and sautéed vegetables for a complete meal. Enjoy the rich umami flavors!
