Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for brushing)

1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.

Gradually add warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry ingredients, mixing with a spatula until a thick, sticky batter forms.

Add in the minced garlic and oregano, stirring until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size and bubbles appear on the surface.

After the batter has risen, preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and place a baking sheet or pizza stone inside to heat up.

Once the oven is hot, lightly flour a clean surface and pour the batter onto it (it will be very sticky, so be cautious). Use floured hands to gently stretch the batter into a rough circular shape, about ½ inch thick.

Carefully transfer the shaped dough to a piece of parchment paper. Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt.

Use a sharp knife to make several slashes across the top of the flatbread for aesthetics and to help it cook evenly.

With the help of the parchment paper, slide the flatbread onto the hot baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the flatbread is golden brown and has a crispy outer layer.

Once done, remove from the oven and brush with more olive oil. Garnish with fresh parsley, and additional garlic if desired.

Allow to cool for a few minutes before cutting into wedges or strips. Serve warm with dips of your choice or as a savory accompaniment to your meal.
