Ingredients

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 ½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

Optional: ½ cup chocolate chips (for extra gooeyness)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.

Add Wet Ingredients: Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix everything together until just combined. Do not over-mix; it’s okay if there are a few small lumps.

Incorporate Boiling Water: Gradually stir in the boiling water until fully combined. The batter will be quite thin, but that’s what makes the cake moist! If using, fold in chocolate chips using a spatula.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frost (Optional): Enjoy the cake plain, or top with your favorite chocolate frosting for an extra sweet touch. A simple dusting of powdered sugar also works wonderfully!

Serve: Cut into slices and serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired. Enjoy your super moist chocolate cake!
