Ingredients

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup fresh orange juice

Zest of 1 orange

1/4 cup honey

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1 green onion, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper. Toss the chicken pieces in the mixture until they are evenly coated. Set aside.

Make the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, heat a drizzle of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the soy sauce, orange juice, orange zest, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, thickening slightly.

Fry the Chicken: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated chicken pieces in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 4–5 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Combine and Glaze: Once all the chicken is fried, add it back into the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together on medium heat to coat the chicken evenly with the orange sauce. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.

Serve: Transfer the glazed orange chicken to a serving plate. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.
