Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup warm water (110°F or 43°C)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup pepperoni slices, chopped (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)

1/4 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)

Extra olive oil, for brushing

Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough into a lightly greased bowl, covering it with a damp kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, mix the shredded mozzarella, chopped pepperoni, garlic powder, and basil in a bowl.

Shape Pizza Balls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 10-12 equal portions. Take each portion and flatten it into a disk. Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center, then fold the edges over to seal the filling inside, shaping it into a ball.

Second Rise: Arrange the pizza balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Brush & Bake: Once the pizza balls have risen, gently brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
