8 oz (225 g) pasta (fettuccine or penne works well)

2 tbsp olive oil

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 lb/450 g), diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup prepared basil pesto

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Optional: Cherry tomatoes, halved, for additional freshness

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
