Ingredients

3 to 4 pounds pork baby back ribs

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 cup honey

1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

5 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

2 tablespoons cornstarch (for thickening sauce)

2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch slurry)

Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Ribs:

    - Start by removing the silver skin from the back of the ribs if it’s still attached. This helps them become more tender. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

      Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

        - In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until combined.

          Slow Cook the Ribs:

            - Place the seasoned ribs into the slow cooker, standing them on their side if necessary. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the ribs are tender and falling off the bone.

              Thicken the Sauce (Optional):

                - Once the ribs are cooked, carefully remove them from the slow cooker and place them on a plate. Strain the cooking liquid into a saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Gradually add the slurry to the simmering sauce, stirring continuously until it thickens to your desired consistency.

                  Serve:

                    - Place the ribs on a serving platter and drizzle them with the thickened honey garlic sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for an added touch of flavor and color.

                      Enjoy:

                        - Serve the ribs with your favorite sides such as coleslaw, rice, or grilled vegetables. Dive in and savor the fall-off-the-bone goodness!
