Ingredients

20 jumbo pasta shells

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (plus extra for topping)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg, beaten

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

3 cups marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool.

Prepare the Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent (about 3-4 minutes).

Mix the Cheese: In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Stuff the Shells: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Take a spoonful of the cheese and beef mixture and carefully stuff each pasta shell. Place the stuffed shells seam-side up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Add Marinara Sauce: Pour marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed shells, ensuring each shell is covered. Sprinkle a little extra mozzarella cheese over the top for a gooey finish.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (to prevent sticking, you can spray the foil with cooking spray) and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, allow the pasta shells to sit for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
