Ingredients

12 oz penne pasta

1 lb ground beef

1 lb ground pork

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried thyme

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

1 large egg

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 jar (24 oz) Swedish meatball sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup sour cream

1 cup heavy cream

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the penne pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Prepare Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, nutmeg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form Meatballs: Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. You should have around 24 meatballs.

Bake Meatballs: Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until cooked through.

Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, mix the Swedish meatball sauce with sour cream and heavy cream until well blended.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, meatballs, and the sauce mixture. Stir until everything is evenly coated.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the pasta and meatball mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top of the pasta bake.

Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
