2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together until creamy.

        Add Eggs: Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

          Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

            Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

              Scoop the Dough: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough (or use a cookie scoop) onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving ample space between each cookie to allow for spreading.

                Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look a bit underbaked. They will continue to cook on the baking sheet.

                  Cool: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
