Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

½ cup granulated sugar

1 ¼ tsp salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F (43°C)

½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

2 large eggs, room temperature

¼ cup water, warmed

1 tbsp honey (optional, for extra flavor)

Extra butter for brushing on top

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well to combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and honey (if using) until well incorporated.

Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until the mixture starts to come together. Gradually add the warm water while kneading with your hands or in a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook.

Knead the Dough: Knead the soft dough for about 10-12 minutes on a floured surface or using the stand mixer at medium speed until it is smooth and elastic. The dough should be slightly tacky but not sticky.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball by tucking the edges underneath. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch pan or on a lined baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls again and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, until they have puffed up.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the rolls are rising.

Bake: Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a golden finish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.

Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and brush the tops with additional melted butter. Allow them to cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
