Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

½ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)

½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

2 large eggs, at room temperature

Extra melted butter, for brushing

Optional: coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

Activate Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warmed milk and the sugar. Sprinkle the instant yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Mix Wet Ingredients: Once the yeast is activated, add the melted butter and eggs to the milk mixture. Whisk until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix the sifted flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon or spatula until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook on medium-low speed for about 5-7 minutes.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in volume, about 1-2 hours.

Shape Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball by tucking the edges under itself.

Second Rise: Place the balls of dough into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll. Cover and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes, until puffed.

Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake: Once the second rise is complete, bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Brush with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter. If desired, sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for about 10 minutes in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy the soft, fluffy goodness!
