Ingredients

20 large cremini or portobello mushrooms, stems removed

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled Italian sausage (optional for a vegetarian version)

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Olive oil for drizzling

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Mushroom Caps: Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove the stems, setting them aside.

Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, cooked sausage (if using), breadcrumbs, minced garlic, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well combined and creamy.

Stuff the Mushrooms: Spoon the filling generously into each mushroom cap, pressing down slightly to ensure the filling stays in.

Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Place the stuffed mushrooms on a greased baking sheet or a baking dish. Drizzle a little olive oil over the stuffed mushrooms for extra flavor.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and the tops are golden.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
