Ingredients

1 pound ribeye steak, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

1 cup cremini mushrooms, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 hoagie rolls

8 slices provolone cheese

Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, roasted red peppers, or hot sauce

Instructions

Prepare the Steak: If your ribeye isn't already thinly sliced, freeze it for about 30 minutes for easier slicing. Cut against the grain into thin slices.

Cook the Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced onions and cook for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. Add the sliced mushrooms and continue to cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until both are caramelized. Stir in the minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the vegetable mixture from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Steak: In the same skillet, increase the heat to medium-high. Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to sear before flipping. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the steak is browned but still tender. Return the onion and mushroom mixture to the skillet and combine well.

Melt the Cheese: Lower the heat to medium-low. Divide the steak and vegetable mixture into four sections in the skillet and place two slices of provolone cheese over each section. Cover with a lid for about 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted and gooey.

Toast the Rolls: While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls down the middle without cutting all the way through. You can toast the insides under a broiler for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown, if desired.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Using a spatula, carefully lift the steak and cheese mixture and place it inside each toasted roll. Add any optional toppings, such as jalapeños or roasted red peppers, for an extra kick.

Serve: Enjoy your Ultimate Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich with Mushrooms hot, paired with a side of crispy fries or a simple salad.
